How to Keep a Job (Rifftrax Shorts)

Oh boy!  I'm sure this is going to be the most hilarious Goofy cartoon of all time!

Oh.  It's a real instructional short.  Neat.  I guess.

Coronet brings us a twelve-minute technicolor epic this time, as a recently terminated man seeks out a new job.  After complaining about his old job during the interview, he then has a discussion with his would-be-employer about how to best keep a job and how to move up in the company.

This is a somewhat self-evident instructional film about hard work and dependability, and keeping a good attitude while at work.  It examples these work ethics through twin brothers, Bob and Walter, one a dependable worker and one less so.  But get this, there's a twist!  Bob and Walter are actually the same guy!  There's an interesting moral being taught with this ending that those who don't practice good work ethic can develop it in time if they desire too.  It's not really a judgment of people's character, but rather an encouragement for workplace pride for whatever job they take.  While not all job environments are worth being positive about (I've seen some that are doozies), this is fairly solid educational advice.

Mike, Kevin, and Bill mix their own employment observations in with that of the short.  One of which is how much of a whiny, unlikable character our-job seeking protagonist is, pointing out his unhireable attitude during the job interview early and often.  Work ethic segments are solid laughs of the traditional instructional variety, as they add their own humorous lessons and emphasize the pantomime behavior of the "twins."  There's also a pretty funny run-on gag about a stripper having been ordered for the duo.

How to Keep a Job probably wouldn't make a top ten short list, though it's amusing enough to pay your 99 cents for.  I say if you respond to Coronet shorts of this kind you'll want to see this one.  And if you like Rifftrax at all chances are you have a fondness for Coronet.  Check it out!
